Minecraft's oceans are a series of aquatic biomes starting at sea level (y = 62). They contain sea creatures such as fish, dolphins, and and squid. The ocean floor is typically a hilly terrain made up of sand and gravel that is covered in seagrass and kelp. There are various things to explore such as ocean monuments, shipwrecks, and ocean ruins.

The regular ocean biome has a floor made of gravel and not much else to offer.

The deep ocean starts to see the appearance of underwater caves/ravines as well as ocean monuments. It is found simply by descending deeper into the ocean.

The lukewarm ocean is a halfway point between the regular ocean and the warm ocean. The water is lighter in colour and the seabed is full of sand and seagrass.

The warm ocean is known for its spectacular coral reefs and abundance of tropical fish. It generates by deserts and badlands.

The cold ocean is found next to cold biomes such as taigas. It has darker coloured water and less seagrass compared to other ocean biomes.

The frozen ocean generates near snowy beaches. It is easily recognizable for its icebergs protruding out of the water's surface. There is no vegetation on the seafloor.

Guardians are found protecting ocean monuments. They are hostile mobs who attack by shooting a laser beam from their eye. They drop prismarine shards when killed.

Fish can be found swimming around all throughout Minecraft oceans. They are separated into three kinds: cod, salmon, tropical fish, and pufferfish.

Dolphins are found swimming in pods in all of the ocean biomes except for the frozen ocean. They will grant a speed boost to the player when swimming near them.

Squid are a passive mob found in the ocean as well as other bodies of water. If attacked, they will let out a cloud of black ink.

Elder Guardians are a stronger version of the guardian mob. They have an additional effect of causing mining fatigue on the player. A total of 3 elder guardians will spawn in an ocean monument.

Drowned are the underwater equivalent of zombies. They occasionally carry a trident that they attack with by throwing it at the player. As with regular zombies, there are both adult and baby varieties.

Glow Squids are a variant of the regular squid mob. They are found in ocean depths as well as underground bodies of water in caves and ravines. They drop glow ink sacs when killed.

Ocean Monument

Ocean monuments are structures made from prismarine that generate in deep ocean biomes. They are protected by guardians and elder guardians. The interior consists of various randomly generated rooms which surround a treasure room containing gold blocks. Ocean monuments are the only place where sponges can be found in the game.

Shipwreck

Shipwrecks are structures resembling sunken ships that are found in all ocean biomes. Occasionally they can generate above sea level. They can have up to 3 loot chests which contain supplies, treasure, and maps.

Ocean Ruins

Ocean ruins are a variety of different structures found in the ocean. They often spawn in groups to make up ruined villages. The warm ocean variants are made of sandstone, and others are made of stone bricks. They contain a loot chest as well as suspicious sand/gravel blocks that can drop items when destroyed.
